Everything You Need To Know About Tequila

Anyone who has ever done a Tequila shot knows why this Mexican spirit is loved and hated by many. To be fair to Tequila, we were probably drinking it wrong. Good Tequila has nuanced flavors and should be treated like a good Bourbon or Scotch and sipped delicately.

What is Tequila made from?

Tequila is made from the Blue Agave or Weber Agave. It’s a blue, spiky, cactus-looking succulent that takes about a decade to reach maturity. 100% Agave Tequila is the way you want to go. Anything less, and you are drinking a “mixto” - which contains fermented sugarcane juice and will probably give you a wicked hangover.

What are popular Tequila drinks?

Tequila, when not had in shot form or savored neat, is perfect for cocktails. Because Tequilas can have complex flavor profiles - like being smoky or flowery, the mixed drink possibilities are endless. Try a Margarita or Paloma.

What are the Best Tequilas?
